New Laser Printers Fit Bill For Small Business

EPSON has expanded its laser printer range with two entry-level models for Windows and Mac users.

The EPL-5700L and 5800 give small business users an economical tool to print graphics, illustrations and text documents.

The EPL-5700 prints up to eight pages a minute and features a specially developed Epson controller with both USB and parallel interfaces.

The USB interface lets users of Windows 98, Apple G3 and iMac machines to enjoy high-speed data transfer with one connection.

It features 2MB of memory as standard that can be expanded to 13MB. The 5700 has a true print resolution of 600 by 600 DPI resolution.

Its larger stablemate, the 5800, prints 10 pages a minute and has true 1200 by 1200 DPI print resolution.

The 5800 uses PCL 6 printer control language and features 16MB of memory as standard, expandable to 256MB.

It too has parallel and USB interfaces.

The 5700 has a recommended retail price of $799 and the 5800 of $1099.
